Subcontext has a public MCP server that any AI assistant can connect to without signing in. It's for building with Subcontext: your assistant can search and read these developer docs and the help guides, look up any operation in the partner API, check the plans, and ask Subcontext's own agent a question.
https://subcontext.com/mcp/public
Add it as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude or ChatGPT. There's no key and nothing to approve. To work in your own Subcontext account, connect the MCP server instead: that one signs you in.
Its tools#
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
search_docs |
Finds the developer docs and help guides that match a few words, each with its address. |
read_doc |
Reads one of them in full, as Markdown. |
get_api_reference |
Lists every operation in the partner API, or gives one in full: parameters, request body, responses and the scopes it needs. |
list_plans |
The plans, their prices and what each includes. |
ask_subcontext |
Asks Subcontext's own agent, for questions the docs don't answer. Pass conversation_id back to keep the thread. |
It reads what's public on subcontext.com, and can't see or change anyone's account. Questions to
ask_subcontext are answered by the same agent as the chat on our website, and like that chat they're
recorded. It's rate limited, more tightly for ask_subcontext.
Every way an agent can reach Subcontext is listed at subcontext.com/agents.txt.
